The Faraway Paladin gets TV anime treatment

Kanata Yanagino’s fantasy light novel The Faraway Paladin is being adapted into a TV anime series, with a planned broadcast of October 2021.

The Faraway Paladin tells the story of Will, a boy who gets reincarnated into a world with vague memory of his previous life. There, he is raised by three Undead, and begins to learn the true meaning of his existence. Yanagino has been serialising the work on Shosetsuka ni Naro (Become a Novelist) since 2015, and Overlap Bunko have published four volumes of the light novel so far.

The main cast of the anime adaptation consists of Maki Kawase playing the lead role of William, aka Will. She is joined by Katsuyuki Konishi as Blood the skeleton, Yui Horie as Mary the mummy, Nobuo Tobita as Gus the ghost and Ayumu Muraase as Menel the high elf.

Directing the series is Yu Nobuta, who previously worked on Fall 2020 series Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, along with Tatsuya Takahashi and Koji Haneda serving as writer and character designer respectively. The animation is produced by Children’s Playground Entertainment (Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION 2).
