Kamen Rider W sequel gets anime

Futo Detectives, the sequel manga series of Kamen Rider W, is getting an anime adaptation and is set to begin streaming in Summer 2022.

This anime production is one of the projects commemorating the 50th anniversary of Kamen Rider, a well-known superhero tokusatsu drama series. Kamen Rider W revolves around private detective Shotaro Hidari and his partner Philip, who combine to transform into the titular hero. Renn Kiriyama and Masaki Suda played the duo in the live-action series that aired from September 2009 to August 2010.

Futo Detectives began serialising in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits in 2017, and is scribed by Riku Sanjo, who worked as the main writer for the tokusatsu series, and illustrated by Masaki Sato. The pair, along with original creature designer Katsuya Terada is in charge of the anime project.

Just when it seems peace has returned to Futo, Shotaro and Philip are thrust into a new case of mystery with a new female character.
